I 2011 er det nytt presidentvalg i Zambia. Den sittende presidenten, Rupiah Banda fra Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD), regner med å vinne. De to største opposisjonspartiene, Patriotic Front (PF) og United Party for National Development (UPND), har inngått en koalisjon for å skape en felles front mot MMD.
