Borgerkrigen i Burundi tok endelig slutt i april 2009, da den siste gjenværende geriljagruppen Parti pour la Libération du Peuple Hutu – Front National du Peuple Hutu (Palipehutu-FNL) undertegnet en fredsavtale med landets myndigheter.
